Math- the kiddos filled in missing numbers on a 100's chart
Star- the kiddos spelled no excuse words using letter beads
Writing
We started writing another form of non-fiction books, How To books. We thought of things that we know how to do by ourselves and could teach other people to do. We then talked about the writing process. First we pick our topic, then we think about the steps and sketch a picture for each, finally we write the words to tell how to do something.
Math
We started addition this week!! We read a book, The Sleepover about a slumber party and some mischievous girls who trick their babysitter into thinking she has lost/ gained some girls. The kiddos realized that the girls always stay the same they just switched places on the bunk bed- commutative property. The kiddos realized that 4 girls on the top bunk and 4 girls on the bottom bunk was the same number of girls as 3 girls on the top bunk and 5 girls on the bottom bunk. We used manipulatives to find different ways that the girls could have tricked their babysitter (6+2, 7+1, etc.).
Counselor
We had counselor this week. Mrs. Townlain read The Crayon Box that Talked, and talked with the kids about how we are all different and unique and how we can get along regardless of those differences.
